While addressing a press conference along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) Qamar Zaman Kaira, PAT Chief Tahirul Qadri read out a 10-point statement of their collective demands.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said in case the January 7 deadline is not met, their steering committee constituted with the consultation of participant of the APC will announce a future plan of action on January 8 which may include sit-ins in Lahore or across the country.
The APC condemned the Model Town incident and amendment in the declaration. It adopted a resolution which was passed unanimously. According to the resolution, the Model Town incident was a case of state terrorism in which the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, including Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah were involved. They ordered firing at 100 people on the pretext of an anti-encroachment operation, killing 14 people.
The amendment in the declaration of finality of the Prophethood is an attack on the faith of all the Muslims and the constitution. The mastermind behind amendment in the declaration has not been brought to the fore. The PML-N has lost the right to hold power after attacking the faith. This conflict will continue till people involved in the crime are taken to task.
The APC announced that people martyred and injured on June 17, 2014, in Model Town were not only workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek but were also citizens of Pakistan. It is the joint responsibility of all the parties in the APC to fight for justice for the people who were killed and injured. Justice in the Model Town incident will prove to be a milestone for rule of law, the APC declaration said.
The bereaved families of Model Town incident have got only the report of Najafi commission after waiting for justice for three and a half years. This proves that transparent investigation, trial, and provision of justice would not be possible till Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif remain in power. Although 125 police officials were summoned, not a single one was arrested. Besides, bureaucrats and government officials involved in the murder have also not been summoned. This shows that the incumbent government has failed to deliver justice.
Since the report has "held" Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah responsible for the incident, the APC demands that they and others involved in the crime should step down before January 7, 2018. The APC has mutually extended the deadline of December 31, 2017, to January 7, 2018.
The APC demanded that all provincial assemblies and the Senate should get resolutions approved regarding resignations of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
The APC demanded no NRO be given under internal or external pressure to the Sharif family which has looted the national wealth. The steering committee constituted to come up with a future line of action will include Pakistan People's Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Awami Muslim League, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Pak Sarzameen Party, and Muslim Conference. Pakistan Awami Tehreek Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur will be the coordinator of the committee and Sardar Muhammad Lateef Khosa will be the legal adviser of the committee.
Qamar Zaman Kaira, Rehman Malik, Manzoor Wattoo and Latif Khosa represented Pakistan People's Party (PPP) while delegations of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) were also present at the conference. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, and Shafqat Mahmood also participated.
